We would like to extend an invitation to all interested in cutting-edge dental and oral health research - dental professionals, practitioners, biomedical researchers, the dental industry, research funders and research users - to join us for SJWRI Research Day 2019, highlighting the research achievements of the University of Otago's Sir John Walsh Research Institute and Faculty of Dentistry.
The meeting will feature keynote presentations from leading local and international researchers, and sessions exploring research in the areas of biomechanics and oral implantology (our featured research area for this year), clinical and translational research, epidemiology and public health, molecular microbiology, craniofacial research, dental education, and oral molecular and immunopathology.
The meeting is fully catered, and CPD points will be available for all sessions. There is no fee for registration, however we ask that external attendees register for catering and logistics purposes. Please visit Registration for more information.
This year's invited keynote speaker is Professor Patrick Schmidlin, who is the head of the Division of Periodontology at the Center of Dental Medicine, University of Zurich, Switzerland. Professor Schmidlin's clinical specialities are in Periodontology (Fachzahnarzt SSO), Implant Dentistry (Weiterbildungsausweis SGI/SSO) and Preventive and Restorative Dentistry (Weiterbildungsausweis SSPRE/SSO). His research interests include anti-infective management of caries and periodontitis, prevention and non/minimally invasive therapy of caries, non-surgical and regenerative periodontal therapy, peri-implantitis and dentin hypersensitivity. He is an Honorary Professor of the Department of Oral Sciences, University of Otago.
