Update on Curriculum matters for current and prospective students

Thursday 31 August 2017 9:10am

Understandably the School has been receiving a lot of enquiries from current and prospective students given the recent restructure and media stories. As such we will endeavour to keep providing you with the latest, accurate information as early as we possibly can.

In 2018, the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPhEd) will be offered in its current form as a four-year qualification, with the major subject requirements as given in the University Calendar and online.

Subject to approval by the national committee that approves university programmes, it is anticipated that a new undergraduate curriculum will be introduced for 2019. This curriculum will comprise three-year undergraduate qualifications to align the University of Otago offerings with other New Zealand universities. Students enrolled in the current BPhEd will be able to choose to complete the four-year qualification or transfer to any of the new three-year programmes arising from the changes to the undergraduate curriculum in 2019.
