In an article published today in the Otago Daily Times, Professor Jennie Connor explains that education and persuasian strategies are popular but ineffective ways to address alcohol problems.

"Even some of the programmes that show a modest amount of effect on drinking in the short term, it doesn't last," she says.

"There is no evidence of any sort of education programme that produces a real change in hazardous drinking or harm."
