openign of space

Earlier this week the Ngāi Tahu Māori Health Research Unit's new space was officially opened. The whakawātea was conducted by Hata Temo and Mark Brunton from the Office of Māori Development, pictured below with some of the Unit staff. It was so great to see such a large turnout of Department of Preventive and Social Medicine staff and post-graduate students supporting the event. The Unit has been hosted in the department since 1996 and conducting research that focuses on understanding and improving Māori health outcomes. The new space on the first floor enables the staff and students of the Unit to be located together and has created a vibrant hub in the Adams building for this group.
