Introduction

Established in 2019 by the University of Otago, from a generous donation by Drs Stanley and Catherine Paris, these scholarships are named after Stanley G Paris and Stanley V Paris, father and son graduates of the School of Physiotherapy at the University of Otago.


Value Postgraduate:
  • The Scholarship will provide a tuition fee rebate for approved papers counting towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Physiotherapy or a Master of Physiotherapy.
  • The Scholarship may provide a stipend for living costs of up to $10,000 per annum.
  • Additional funding may be provided for related consumable and travel costs (up to $2,000) and professional development opportunities as outlined in the Scholarship Regulations.
PhD:
  • The Scholarship will provide a tuition fee rebate for up to three years (full-time enrolment) or six years (part-time enrolment).
  • The Scholarship may provide a stipend for living costs of up to $27,000 per annum.
  • Additional funding may be provided for related consumable and travel costs (up to $10,000) and professional development opportunities as outlined in the Scholarship Regulations.
NumberThe number and value of scholarships available each year will be determined by the selection panel.

The Stanley Paris Postgraduate OMT Scholarship

The Scholarship was created to support University of Otago students in the area of musculoskeletal and manual therapy at the School of Physiotherapy/ Te Kura Kōmiri Pai. In doing so, it seeks to enhance the School's international and national profile as a leader in research and clinical practice.

Eligibility
Applicants must be:

  • a New Zealand registered physiotherapist; and
  • enrolled or intending to enrol at the University of Otago for the year of the award in either a Postgraduate Diploma in Physiotherapy or a Master of Physiotherapy focussing on orthopaedic manual therapy.

Completed applications must be submitted by the closing date  to Student Administration (Scholarships).

The Stanley Paris PhD OMT Scholarship

The Scholarship was created to support University of Otago students in the area of orthopaedic manual therapy at the School of Physiotherapy/ Te Kura Kōmiri Pai. In doing so, it seeks to enhance the School's international and national profile as a leader in research and clinical practice.

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • a New Zealand trained and registered physiotherapist wishing to pursue a clinical research career in New Zealand; and
  • enrolled or intending to enrol at the University of Otago for the year of the award in a Doctor of Philosophy programme focussing on orthopaedic manual therapy, with primary supervision within the Otago School of Physiotherapy.
