There will be a number of administrative roles advertised over the next few weeks. Outlined below is an indicative recruitment process for such roles. There will be instances where the process will be tailored to specific skills requirements of the role.
Selection panels will be formed for each role, they will be responsible for shortlisting, interviewing, and selection. The selection panels will be supported by the recruitment team, who will be responsible for facilitating the advertising, skills assessments, interview arrangements, reference checking. The recruitment team will be available to support candidates with their application process.
Whilst there will be some variations, due to the specific requirements of each role, the overall process will be as outlined below:
Each role will be advertised internally on the University of Otago Careers page. Please ensure you are logging in to the internal staff page. This can be accessed from the top of the main vacancies page.

Applications are to be made via the recruitment system by clicking on the apply online button in the advertisement. As part of the online application process you will be asked to answer tailored questions for each role and nominate two referees; one being your current/most recent manager and submit a cover letter and CV.
Upon receipt of your application, you will be emailed detailed instructions on how to complete this assessment. Assessments can be completed in your own time, using a PC OR MacOSx device. The assessment will include the Microsoft suite of programmes, if you would like to refresh your skills in advance there are a number of online sites where you can practise at your own pace, including at EDX, GCF Learn free or Lynda.com
Shortlisting for interview will be conducted by the selection panel for each role. In the event you are not shortlisted, you will be notified at the earliest opportunity.
Interviews & Panel Membership
It is planned that interviews will be conducted within two weeks of the advertising closing date. Should there be any variation we will keep you informed.
The selection panel, consisting of three to four people with one person in the role of Chair, will conduct the interviews. Interviews will be behavioural based on key capabilities identified for the role.
The recruitment team will be arranging interviews, if you have any specific requirements (such as accessibility or Whanau support) do just let them know when they contact you.
As part of your application, you will have nominated two references. In the event that your application progresses past the interview stage, we will get in touch to let you know that your references will be contacted.
At the completion of all interviews, the full selection panel will meet to make final appointment decisions.
Both successful and unsuccessful candidates, who have attended interview, will be contacted individually to advise them of the outcome.
