Thanks to Eighty4 Recruitment, the School of Surveying now has a Phantom 3 quadrotor Drone! Affordable drones are increasingly becoming common equipment in the Surveyor's tool kit. Allowing large 3D models of open areas, buildings, stockpiles and more to be made relatively quickly, low cost drones have the possibility to change the way surveyors capture and use large quantities of data.
With Eighty4 Recruitment's kind donation - presented at the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors (NZIS) conference in Nelson - the School of Surveying has a greater capacity to learn, experiment with and assess how low cost drones can be appropriately used by surveyors.
Thank you from the Otago University Surveying Students Association (OUSSA) on behalf of our current (and future) students.
