The New Zealand Institute of Surveyors will be celebrating its 125th anniversary at their annual conference to be held in Dunedin from 29-31 August 2013.

The occasion also celebrates the 50th anniversary of the university education of surveyors, now the New Zealand National School of Surveying at Otago University.

The theme of our conference is “Celebrating the past- redefining the future.” Part of the theme is historic; looking back at where surveyors have been, and part about looking to the future; where surveyors fit in New Zealand's landscape.

The SIRC NZ 2013 conference will be held in conjunction with the NZIS conference, so there will be a strong GIS theme including keynote speakers and parallel sessions.

50th Anniversary of the School of Surveying

The conference is an opportunity for a reunion – a chance for the many graduates of Surveying Diplomas and Degrees to return to Dunedin, their student haunts, and reconnect.

50th Celebration Publication

Mick Strack is editing and compiling a collection of essays, photos, art and poetry to be published to coincide with the NZIS Conference in August 2013.
