The School of Surveying supports a number of undergraduate degree programmes, all of which are listed below.
Bachelor of Surveying (BSurv, BSurv (Hons))
Bachelor of Surveying (BSurv)
This is the flag-ship undergraduate degree of the National School of Surveying. It spans four years of study and is required by the Cadastral Surveyors Licensing Board of New Zealand as the academic foundation for any person seeking to be a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor. This is a professional degree and leads to full membership of the NZ Institute of Surveyors.

Bachelor of Surveying with Honours (BSurv (Hons))
The difference between this degree and the BSurv is the additional requirement for a full Honours research dissertation in the fourth year. To be accepted into the Honours programme students must have a B+ average over the second and third years of the BSurv degree and show a high level of personal motivation.

Bachelor of Applied Science (BAppSc, BAppSc(Hons)) majoring in Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
Bachelor of Applied Science (BAppSc) majoring in GIS
The National School of Surveying partners with the Department of Information Science in offering a three-year Applied Science degree in Geographical Information Systems (GIS). This degree is designed for those who wish to seek employment in one of the world's fastest growing areas of information technology. Being the technology behind Google Earth, it combines elements such as GIS data structures, remote sensing, spatial databases, spatial analysis, geographical visualization and GIS management. All BAppSc degrees require a minor subject to be undertaken which can strengthen and broaden the GIS major.

Bachelor of Applied Science with Honours (BAppSc (Hons)) majoring in GIS
This is a four-year degree that follows the description for the BAppSc above for the first three years, followed by a full Honours research dissertation, three specialist GIS / remote sensing papers and a primer on project management in the fourth year. To be able to follow the Honours path, students must have a B+ average over the second and third years of the BAppSc degree and show a high level of personal motivation.

Bachelor of Science (BSc)
Bachelor of Science Major in Surveying Measurement
This three-year degree comprises the papers from the measurement science part of the BSurv degree along with other elective papers. It is ideal for overseas students who wish to study surveying but not New Zealand land law, administration, planning or civil engineering.

Bachelor of Science Major in Land Planning and Development
This three-year degree is comprised of papers from the land development and planning part of the BSurv degree along with other elective papers. It uniquely prepares students for advancement to a career in planning, urban design, or land development engineering.
