Background
Jeremy is a Senior lecturer in Māori physical education and health at the School of Physical Education, Sport and Exercise Sciences. Previously, he spent over 14 years at Massey University in various roles, including a lecturer as well as the Māori Research Development Advisor at Massey’s Office of Research and Enterprise. Jeremy has a background in rugby both as a player (NZ, Japan, France) and as a coach (Italy, NZ) but prior to this, he also taught at Primary School, Intermediate and High School as a Health and PE teacher before becoming an academic.

Research
Currently, Jeremy is working on a Marsden fund research grant that explores Kaupapa Māori related research on Indigenous Sport for Development (SFD).
He is also an International collaborator on a SSHRC (Canada) funded grant that focuses on Sport for Reconciliation in Canada, Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Previously, in his Māori Research Development Advisor role, Jeremy oversaw the Vision Mātauranga Capability Fund (VCMF) administered by MBIE.
