Māori Studies is an intellectual discipline with an academic programme dedicated to the study of te reo me ngā tikanga Māori (the Māori language, Māori customary lore, Māori history, Māori performing arts, Māori education and Māori research) in Aotearoa and Te Waipounamu. Hosting an immersion Māori language programme from 100-level to 400-level which caters for students from all tribal areas and inclusive of non-Māori students provides a strong foundation for the multidisciplinary offerings of papers that constitute our curriculum. We offer a dynamic choice of courses intended to broaden the knowledge base of our students. Other papers support this programme while also providing a multi-disciplinary offering of papers such as history, research methods, performing arts, education, the Treaty of Waitangi and politics.
