Overview
The Bachelor of Theology (BTheol) is a specialist degree that requires three years of full-time (or equivalent in part-time study), and is also available through Distance Learning.
Requirements
The degree must include the major subject requirements for at least one of:
- BTheol majoring in Biblical Studies
- BTheol majoring in Christian Thought and History
- BTheol majoring in Pastoral Studies
Things to remember:
- All three Majors share the same 100-level papers - these are all compulsory for the degree
- Think ahead - papers at 200- or 300-level usually have prerequisite papers that must have been passed in earlier years. Take this into account when planning your programme
- Many BTheol students take more than the minimum 72 points of 300-level Theology papers
- You are also permitted to include up to 90 points from non-Theology papers
It is your responsibility to plan your course of study so that you complete the requirements listed under each Major, but the Department is able to offer advice if you would like it.
Students are taught by research-active scholars, are expected to undertake a variety of learning experiences and are challenged to develop their intellectual independence.
Bachelor of Theology Graduates
Graduates of the programme are well-informed about the key themes of and approaches to the different areas of study which are encompassed by the subject areas of Theology and have the ability to integrate learning across the range of subject areas of Theology.
