The project is funded mainly by a Foundation
for Research Science and Technology grant to Rakiura Maori.
Further financial assistance was contributed by the
University of Otago, Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu, New Zealand
Lottery Science, New Zealand Aluminium Smelters Ltd., the
New Zealand Department of Conservation, the Southland
Licensing Trust and a Pacific Development & Conservation
Trust grant. Southwest Helicopters Ltd., have helped
transport the research team free of charge. The research
would not be possible without the co-operation of scores of
muttonbirders that allow their harvest to be observed and
provide logistical support to the research team.
