Making great connections between Host families and students is our specialty
Students currently living in New Zealand, will usually find moving into a host’s home relatively easy. If you are new to New Zealand, your host will help you adjust to the “Kiwi lifestyle” and make your journey as easy as possible. Host families live on good bus routes to the city which are accessed easily.
Hosts are all visited by an accommodation co-ordinator and with over 250 hosts on our database. Our hosts have been interviewed, where references are completed, police records checked and the home inspected. Our hosts are orientated to a handbook which contains all University of Otago guidelines. Students also receive a handbook prior to arrival which contains all guidelines and expectations for living in a homestay.
University of Otago can offer a variety of host accommodation – vegetarian, families with children, independent flat-like accommodation, younger couples, older couples – you choose. We can find something to suit everyone!
We pride ourselves on our success stories and past experiences from the thousands of students we have placed into homestay over the years.
Many international students remember their homestay as their “Kiwi parents” and keep in touch over many years.
All homestay homes are approximately 25-30 minutes travel time to the University.
We place international and domestic applicants into homestay homes – we can find a family to suit everyone.
