At the recent Australasian Society of Infectious Disease New Zealand Annual Scientific Conference, co-convened by Dr James Ussher, a symposium was held on a national response to carbapenemase-producing bacteria. Ministry of Health Representatives, backed by the Ministry for Primary Industries, attended the symposium which sought to tackle this "emerging global threat".
