Tehmina started in the field of Experimental Psychology and taught for many years, developing an interest in technology and staff development. Before becoming the Education Adviser, she had the role of eLearning Facilitator, working with staff to develop their use of elearning tools to enhance teaching and learning. Tehmina now works with staff on a range of educational matters including the planning, development, delivery, assessment, and evaluation of courses; professional development; research with an educational focus; and confirmation pathway processes.
Research and Interests
Tehmina's doctoral work in social psychology led her to an interest in how and why students learn, in particular, what motivates students to learn in challenging environments.
Tehmina has several research interests including:
- influences on academic motivation in high achieving students
- curation of teaching and learning tools to support students in clinical environments
- using extended reality to increase student self-efficacy
Tehmina is interested in working with postgraduate students with interests in student self-efficacy, self-determination theory, and more generally academic motivation or student engagement in learning. She would also be interested in working with students with an interest in how technology may be used to support teaching and learning. Please contact her directly.
