Morgane Brunton-O'Sullivan

Background

Morgane is an Assistant Research Fellow with the Wellington Cardiovascular Research Group, and has recently submitted her PhD with the University of Otago.

Morgane’s PhD was focused on characterising the cardiac extracellular matrix in acute myocardial infarction (commonly known as a heart attack) using biomarker analysis and cell culture studies. More specifically, she used novel statistical approaches to combine biomarkers in heart attack patients, and investigated the activity of heart cells in environmental conditions that mimicked heart repair.

Moving forward, she is interested in developing techniques to better risk stratify patients following a heart attack. Morgane has expertise in cell culture, as well as genetic and protein-based research.
