Diabetes Stories - Understanding the lived experience of people with diabetes in NZ: a narrative inquiry (2014-  )

Investigators

Abstract

This project is a further extension to the Diabetes Tracking Study (see below), focusing on patients’ ongoing experience of living with diabetes. The ARCH team are working with DIPEx International, a consortium of researchers in 12 countries who are currently building their own national patient experience databases. The Oxford University-based Health Experiences Research Group (HERG) has developed the UK site www.healthtalk.org which is managed by the DIPEx UK charity. This ARCH project has successfully piloted the DIPEx methodology for recruitment, video recording, and analysis of a maximal variation sample of narrative interviews with around 30 patients, and tested the acceptability to New Zealand patients of publication of excerpts on a patient experience website modelled on www.healthtalk.org
