The first of these projects (2009) analysed data from the ARCH Corpus of Health Interactions and Diabetes Tracking Study to obtain a picture of when and how GPs and patients actually discuss excess weight related issues (or not) during routine consultations.

More recent work has focused on developing a toolkit and brief intervention for use in general practice and testing its acceptability to clinicians (doctors and nurses) and patients. This brief intervention (FABS) is currently being piloted and evaluated in several Wellington general practices.
