Shaystah Dean is a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychological Medicine, University of Otago, Christchurch. She recieved her qualification as a clinical psychologist from the University of Canterbury in 2011, and later completed her PhD at the University of Otago, Wellington.

With a background in general and adolescent mental health, in both the public and private sectors, her research interests include adolescent mental health, integrated psychological intervention, and disaster response.

Following the March 15 mosque attacks, Shaystah held roles supporting both the Canterbury District Health Board psychosocial response, and the Ministry of Justice as part of planning and delivery of court proceedings. She is an investigator for The March 15 Project: Impacts and Recovery, at the University of Otago, Christchurch.
