Speciation concerns the processes behind the production of biological diversity, the fundamental unit of which is the species. Some of the questions we work on include: How do we define and recognise species? How is speciation affected by biological features of species (such as dispersal ability, ecological preferences, mating behaviour)? How do geological events (such as climate change, mountain building, changing course of rivers) lead to speciation?
