The back balcony of the Cortés palace features a series of murals by in 1927 by Diego Rivera (1886-1957), depicting the history of Morelos from pre-conquest times to the age of Zapata.
"The slow darkening of the murals as you look from right to left. it seems somehow to symbolize the gradual imposition of the Spaniards' conquering will upon the Indians. Do you see what I mean?"UTV, 212.
