The DMPtool is an online tool which enables you to store information about your research project and the datasets associated with that project in one place. The DMPtool is free to use, safe, secure and you can access your information anytime from any computer or mobile device.
No. The DMPtool stores the information about your datasets, rather than the datasets themselves. Where you store your datasets is up to you. Contact your department or ITS for advice on where to store your datasets.
There are links to the DMPtool on many different University and Library webpages. The URL is: www.dmp.otago.ac.nz. You can access the DMPtool using any computer or mobile device.
You do. The content of the DMPtool is managed safely and securely by the University on your behalf.

In other countries, such as the UK and the USA it is mandatory to have a Data Management Plan and institutions routinely make online tools, such as the DMPtool, available to researchers to use. If you do not have a DMP you may not have access to the funding you require to do your research.
Information which has been deleted cannot be recovered. However, when you try to 'Remove' your DMP (or any dataset information associated with your DMP), a caution will appear on-screen. This caution will ask you to confirm that you really do wish to delete your project or dataset information. If you again choose the red 'Remove' button, your project or dataset will be permanently deleted.
