Straight Jackets: the Art of the Book Jacket University of Otago Straight Jackets: the art of the book jacket

John Nash (1893-1977) began his painting career when he painted Over the Top, a scene of a failed army attack at Marcoing, near Cambrai. Unlike his brother Paul, who was better known, John favoured a painstaking naturalistic style. This is his design effort on the jacket of his brother's autobiography. This is the first English edition.
