John Farleigh (1900-65) is most famous for his London Transport posters and his illustrations for George Bernard Shaw's The Adventures of the Black Girl in Her Search for God (1933) which stimulated a revival of interest in black-and-white illustration. Here he puts his skill to good work on a collection of African tales from the Bari of Central Africa retold for children by Dr A. N. Tucker.
