The English artist Thomas Sturge Moore (1870-1944), pupil of the artist Charles Ricketts, created this 'Egyptian' design for Yeats and had it blind-stamped on the cover and repeated again on the jacket. According to the information in the jacket flap, 'the emblem on the cover does not refer to any particular line or stanza but to the underlying theme of the book. '
