Stuart Hoar – 1993

Burns fellowship Typescript

Prior to his arrival in Dunedin as Burns Fellow for 1993, Stuart Hoar had not only written and produced four full-length plays, but also penned a number of successful radio plays. Not So Poor, produced at Allen Hall Theatre in Dunedin, and Yo Banfa, a play about Rewi Alley in China, were two of his outputs during 1993, as well as vital research for his first published novel, The Hard Light (1998). Hoar enjoyed his stint as a Burns Fellow, proclaiming: 'Long may it continue!'
