Genomics Aotearoa's Friday zoom-based seminar series begins with Dr Andelka M. Philips and Dr Jan Charbonneau, who will be speaking to us on: Privacy and the world of DTC – data breaches are already happening.
DTC is an industry that has created a market for genetic tests as commercial services, taking them outside of the oversight mechanisms that apply in a clinical setting and into the consumer space, where they have been subject to relatively little oversight.
This seminar will look at the implications for genetic testing and data privacy, particularly in light of recent data breaches. We encourage you to invite colleagues to join our genomics community and take part in this seminar.
