Our Office is excited to provide strategic advice through:
- Strengthening our Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnerships with mana whenua and protecting taonga Māori
- Advancing Māori leadership, policies, plans and practices
- Leading the development and implementation of the University’s Māori academic research and teaching objectives, strengthening Māori content, delivery and methodology
- Leading and supporting Māori staff and students through new and existing networks, helping mātauraka Māori flourish and furthering places where Māori staff and students can be Māori
- Developing innovative ways for all students to engage and learn about, and in, te ao Māori
- Growing our research that engages with te ao Māori
Our Office is responsible for leading the Pae Tata Whakamana i te Tiriti o Waitangi Domain and the Te Aka Matua | Māori Strategic Framework 2030, and for coordinating relationships with mana whenua and Māori entities, including pursuant to Te Kaha Uia Te Kaha | The Mana-to-Mana Agreement.
