Research

Brain research, including investigation of the effects of low oxygen levels (hypoxia) during the second trimester, or around birth, on brain development. Investigation of treatments to rescue the hypoxic-injured brain, including researching the restorative potential of adult-sourced stem cells. Mapping of the microcircuitry of the brain (i.e. connectomics) during health, and after injury, using electron microscopy. Three-dimensional anatomical methods used (i.e. stereology), primarily to increase knowledge on the basal ganglia of the brain. Stereological advice provided on request.
