Science Library – Summer Closure
Due to the installation of a new lift, the Science Library will be closed from Sunday 12 November 2023 through until Monday 19 February 2024. Library staff will continue to have access to the Science Library collections, so items requested from the collection via Library Search | Ketu will continue to be made available to Library users.

Library support for Endnote at the University of Otago
Clarivate, the provider of Endnote, delivers excellent support for Endnote via email and chat as well as training videos and FAQ s. The University Endnote subscription includes access to this service. From 1 September 2023, all educational support and troubleshooting for EndNote will be provided by Clarivate. Whilst library education and troubleshooting for Endnote will be discontinued, library staff will continue to support citing and referencing.

Publishing your research – new for 2023
Otago researchers can take advantage of Read and Publish Agreements to publish Otago research and scholarly articles direct to Open Access with no transactional article processing charges (APCs), within over 7600 journals from 14 publishers.
Last year over 300 articles were published open access under these agreements with no APCs paid by Otago researchers.

What's new for 2023?
- The number of agreements in place has risen from 6 to 14
- From 1 July 2023 the Elsevier Read and Publish Agreement eligible title list will be expanded from 235 to 1,649 hybrid Open Access titles.
- Additional publishing discounts on APCs are available
- Some of the new agreements allow Otago authors to submit their articles to the University's institutional repository:

What's in it for you?
Otago researchers are now able to publish Open Access articles at no cost to the researcher, through new Read and Publish agreements with the listed publishers. Check the details as some agreements have limits on the number of articles included in the agreement.
How to access this opportunity
You don't need to change your publishing practices. Submit as usual and you will be notified on acceptance if you are eligible to publish your article Open Access with no transactional APCs.

Benefits for researchers
Articles published as Open Access have increased visibility, receive a larger readership, and garner a higher number of citations than those articles which are not Open Access. These agreements help to support equity of access to Otago's research outputs and to increase the impact potential of our research.
