My first degree was a BA(Hons) in English Literature from Massey University followed by a Teaching Diploma from The University of Waikato in 1994. In the 2000s I returned to university, this time at Otago, to study accounting but a programming paper along the way proved too exciting. I graduated with a BSc in 2003 and a PGDipSci in 2004.
As a Teaching Fellow I have worked primarily in first-year introductory programming and it is always a joy to see others experience that same excitement.
My other areas of teaching have been web and software development. I’ve also been involved with creating and providing courses for high school teachers.
