UMHD – Australia and New Zealand Universities acknowledge mental health in the university environment on the first Tuesday in May. Its aim is to bring awareness and focus to the unique challenges students face to their mental health and social and emotional wellbeing when studying at a university.

It's about bringing our diverse University communities together: To inspire conversations, campaign, take action and create change so that together we can make mental health a University-wide priority and create ongoing, year-round change.

This year we are having a ‘mini-fest’ to acknowledge and get together – there will be various Otago University services hanging out on Tuesday, 7 May, bringing you kai, music, games, chats, space, flu jabs and more. Please pop by the Union Lawn between 11am-2pm ( MCR if wet) and say hi and join us.

We also have two boards up in the Link area (opposite the table tennis) where you can find out more info on what events are happening during the week. The second board is “Ask for a Friend” – you can write up a question for a friend (or yourself) and post it anonymously on the board, then various services will write up some suggestions for ‘your friend’. You will likely pick up some good ideas and tips even from just looking at the board.
