Checking out the changes … Te Huka Mātauraka – Māori Centre Kaiwhakahaere Tari Shae MacMillan reads what will be on the menu at Wasabi in The Link from Monday.

Hawkers’ Alley is on its way – it is opening for lunches in The Link in Dunedin from Monday (26 February) with three street-food-style food stalls initially, selling competitively priced, tasty, bites this academic year.

The stalls are:

  • Uncle Hong’s – open Mondays to Fridays, with rice-based Asian offerings, topped with a choice of vegetables, proteins, curries, and sauces – including vegetarian options.
  • Wasabi – open Mondays to Fridays, stocking a variety of freshly made sushi. This stall was a great success when trialled in The Link last year.
  • Rolling Taco – open Tuesdays to Thursdays, is a Mexican-themed outlet selling a taco ready to go, with various fillings, including vegetarian options.

People asked for more variety and they have been heard, says Campus and Collegiate Life Services Director James Lindsay.

The Link is now home to six food outlets, the others are Café Albany, the Campus Store, and Chatime. And seating along The Link has changed from mostly airport-style couches to mostly café-style tables and chairs.

James says his team is cooking up more plans for the Union Building area, so watch this space.
