Facility overview

Research carried out in this facility contributes to the knowledge and understanding the neurological and musculoskeletal systems. Biomechanical analyses advancing our understanding of mechanisms, risks, treatment, and rehabilitation of a condition or injury. Research areas undertaken in our laboratory include concussion, Parkinson's disease, cerebral palsy, stroke, falls prevention, ACL injury outcomes, and occupational injuries.

Strategic goals

The research facility is based on 4 goals:

Cutting edge research

To be at the forefront and contribute to the knowledge and understanding of mechanism underlying balance and movement. To better understand conditions, pain or injuries which affect the neurological and musculoskeletal systems and innovate in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of these conditions.

Clinical partnerships

To provide facilities and expertise to work inter-professionally to improve clinical outcomes, through:
Effective clinical assessment and consultation to inform clinical decision making.
Developing and accessing new methods and techniques for improving diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of disorders affecting the neurological and musculoskeletal systems.

Commercialisation

Provide consultancy and research for industry to facilitating the development of a product or service. Enabling measurement of human movement and functional outcomes.
To provide expertise and equipment to conduct product reliability and validity testing of devices aimed at measuring or improving functional outcomes.
To provide expertise and equipment for 3D Motion Capture and animation services.

Strong and enduring collaborations

Strong engagement and collaboration with community partners and stakeholders are key to the success of our research.
