Research

Employing pharmacoepidemiological approaches to examine the temporal trends in the utilisation of commonly prescribed preventive medicines in the old and oldest old population of New Zealand. Additionally, investigating the discontinuation of preventive medicines in older people in the presence of a recognisable life limiting illness or those with limited life expectancy. Further research aimed to develop an index to quantify multimorbidity for use in future pharmacoepidemiological research in New Zealand.

Sujita is supervised by Dr Prasad Nishtala and her advisors are Professor Sarah Hilmer and Dr Hamish Jamieson.

Additional details

Sujita has had three years of clinical experience as a Pharmacist and a further three years as a HIV/STI Regional Pharmacist/Consultant. Her role concentrated on the effective use and optimisation of access to Anti-Retrovirals for the treatment and prevention of HIV in 13 countries in the Pacific. She has also contributed significantly to the development and drafting of several guidelines related to the management of HIV in the Pacific, and has future interests in pharmacoepidemiological studies.
