Open Days and Expos

Tertiary Open Day

Every year the University of Otago and the Otago Polytechnic hold a joint Open day, so you can come and see what your options are. For 2017 this will be Monday 8th of May.

When the Science programme is finalised we will post it here, but the Open Day gives you the chance to explore a lot more than just one set of academic programmes: make the most of the day and find out about accommodation, students support services, recreational activities and more.

Einstein Exhibition 14 November 2015 - mid-January 2016

2015 was the centenary of the publication of Einstein's Theory of General Relativity. To celebrate this the Relativity group from Mathematics worked with Science Communication and the Otago Museum to create an exhibition. There were interactive displays and videos explaining various aspects of the Theory of General Relativity and how it applies to our every day lives.

You can find many aspects of Relativity - black holes, wormholes, gravitational lenses, the Big Bang, gravitational waves, the Cosmic Microwave Background and more explained on this page:
