Associate Professor Richard Macknight, Ag@Otago Executive Committee member, received The Royal Society of New Zealand's 2017 Marsden funding (Te Pūtea Rangahau A Marsden) of $895,000. Associate Professor Macknight aims to investigate the importance of a type of translational regulation controlling plant response to environmental stress. This knowledge will be used to develop crops with increased resilience to drought stress.
