The University of Otago is launching a new brand. Find out more
Wednesday 14 December 2022 1:49pm

2022 has seen the return of in-person alumni events and were thrilled to be able to host a number of international in-person alumni events in recent weeks. These events were opportunities for alumni to reconnect with each other, hear from senior University leaders, and continue to strengthen the University's alumni family.

We are grateful to our Board in America, the Alumni of the University of Otago in America (AUOA), for co-hosting our events in New York City and San Francisco in early November. Alumni were able to meet and chat with Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement) Professor Tony Ballantyne at these events.

Singapore event

We were joined by Chancellor, Mr Stephen Higgs for our events in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Perth in mid- and late-November. We were fortunate to be hosted at the respective Official Residences in Singapore and Perth and thank Acting High Commissioner Peter Kemp in Singapore and High Commissioner H.E. Pam Dunn for their hospitality. In Malaysia Professor Matthew Marshall and Associate Professor Andrew Filmer, both alumni and now working at Sunway University, kindly performed several musical items which had a New Zealand connection.

It was fabulous to once again return to Perth in late November and it was fabulous to be able to meet with alumni there who have made Perth their home, or who have recently moved there.
