Congratulations to all members of the Otago Department of Biochemistry who received awards and prizes for their research presented at the Queenstown Research Week.

Special congratulations to Dr Peter Mace for winning this year's prestigious Thermo Fisher Scientific™ Award.

The award is given each year at the Queenstown Research Week to a scientist with a high-calibre track record in molecular biology research.

Dr Mace was presented with $4000 and a trophy at the conference dinner, and was invited to present an award lecture at the conference. His enthralling lecture, given the following day, described his research journey into the world of posttranslational modification.

Hamish McMillan won the European Society for Medical Oncology award at the New Zealand Society for Oncology Conference, which gives him a trip to Singapore to the ESMO Asia meeting.

Jody Hazlett won the Marbrook Award at the Australasian Society for Immunology Meeting for the best talk by a Research Assistant.

Following on the back of her success in the national three minute thesis finals, Yasmin Nouri won the best poster prize at the New Zealand Society for Oncology meeting.

Anubrita Das, Martina Foglizzo, and Matthias Fellner also won awards for their great poster presentations.

And Dr Sarah Diermeier, along with her research group, won third prize in the popular Fashionomics competition, dressed as Wonder Women lassoing a tumor played by Meg O'Malley.
