Research summary
Biological anthropology and human genetic variation in ancient and modern populations

Research

My research focuses on understanding the patterns of genetic variation seen in human populations. What variation is there? How did this variation arise and when? How might this variation contribute to health? Why do contemporary Pacific populations have a disproportionately high prevalence of metabolic disease (e.g. gout), and how might ancient and modern DNA help us to understand the evolutionary processes underlying this?
