Josie Spillane is the CEO of Highlands.

She studied at the University of Otago from 1996–2000 and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce. From her third year onwards, she worked full-time and borrowed a massive amount of money to help fund her studies, as interest-free loans weren't available back then.

Like many students, she didn't know what she wanted to do when she graduated. This led to a career path involving hotels, real-estate, casinos, event management, not-for-profits, Shrek the sheep, the All Blacks, motorsport and tourism.

She's now based in Cromwell where she's the CEO of six companies including three motorsport parks.

Come along for an open discussion and to listen to Josie's advice for people looking to enter the workforce in the next few years. She may even share some exciting stories of her time as a student here at Otago.
