Getting “personal” with Tim during his Inaugural Professorial Lecture (IPL) references his research goals to orchestrate tissue development for personalised medicine and regenerative medicine. Developing a suite of interventions specific to each patient's needs, anatomy and disease type is his latest professional focus.

Tim's IPL will describe his journey into science and engineering, starting with his fascination in design and materials science, along with his involvement with Orthopaedic surgeons and with the University of Otago early in his undergraduate engineering degree.

He will include key research achievements in cartilage tissue engineering and pioneering of 3D Printing and 3D Bio-printing technologies as tools to orchestrate (stem) cell function and tissue development, leading to him establishing the CReaTE Research Group and musculoskeletal regenerative medicine and 3D bio-printing at University of Otago, Christchurch, and in New Zealand over the last 15 years.

Tim accepted promotion to his professorial role late in 2019. As is our custom, his inaugural address as a new professor was scheduled soon after in 2020, but was postponed due to precautions needed to prevent the spread of covid-19. He's now back and ready to share his story.

Tim's IPL is a FREE event open to the public:

DATE: Wednesday 7 April
TIME: 5.30pm
VENUE: Rolleston Lecture Theatre, Ground Floor, 2 Riccarton Avenue (University of Otago, Christchurch)
