Emer Lyons has a creative/critical PhD in lesbian poetry and the manifestations of shame from the University of Otago. In 2021, she took up the position of Irish Studies Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Irish and Scottish Studies.

Her research interests are in poetry by women and queer writers, second-wave feminism, affect theory, diasporic studies, Irish studies, language extinction, queer theory, lyric theory.

  • MA (Taught Masters): 2010, Sociology, University College Cork – National University of Ireland.
  • BA (Joint Honours): 2009, Sociology and Archaeology, University College Cork – National University of Ireland.
