Course outline

Occupational medicine practice requires clinical care in addition to public health interventions and preventive medicine. We start with health and performance aspects of noise and hearing, and lighting and vision. The effects of physical hazards such as radiation and electromagnetic phenomena on health are complex and because of the serious consequences of exposure need extensive, accurate, and detailed knowledge. Specific health effects of importance such as occupational allergy, lung disorders, and dermatology are studied in detail. The basic principles of occupational toxicology and exposure are explored at a high level. Specialised environments such as the medical aspects of diving and working under high atmosphere are explored.

  3. Classify levels of occupational exposure, describe exposure investigation and apply this knowledge to workplace exposure management
