    Overview

An introduction to treatment planning, preventive and restorative management of patients with problems arising from dental caries, dental trauma or due to pathology of the pulp, periapex or periodontium.

The paper provides modules in clinical dentistry to enable students to collect patient information and diagnose diseases of the dental hard tissues and periodontium. The course develops knowledge and skills in the following areas: periodontics, clinical cariology, prosthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery. Students will enhance their ability to provide patients with informed treatment options and develop culturally appropriate, patient-centred management plans. Students will learn to deliver care that meets patients' preventive, restorative and removable prosthodontic needs. Communication skills introduced as part of professional development will be reinforced as holistic patient management.
