The range of possible topics in Information Science is vast, and INFO 350 gives good students with appropriate backgrounds the opportunity to work on a niche topic or research project as part of their studies under the supervision of an Information Science academic.
Prior to enrolling in INFO 350, students first approach academics to discuss options and negotiate a suitable topic (sometimes, academics will advertise these topics or approach students directly with a project). Then, once a project is agreed, students enrol in the paper as normal.
INFO 350 is often a great opportunity for students to experience some of the research interests of staff that would not normally be seen in the standard curriculum. It can be particularly valuable and rewarding to students that are considering postgraduate study.
