Overview
A continuation of JAPA132, developing intermediate-level skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing, and in the grammatical analysis of Japanese.
The goal of this paper is the simultaneous development of all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) at the intermediate level of competence. You will continuously expand your vocabulary, grammar and knowledge of essential kanji characters in order to establish a solid foundation in your literacy skills. In the classroom, the focus is on enhancing your oral proficiency through extensive use of the spoken language. By the end of the paper, you will learn how to express yourself in a culturally appropriate manner while handling various interactions with people. You will also deepen your understanding of Japanese society through the introduction of a variety of visual and literary information about its culture and people.
