The New Zealand Society for the Study of Diabetes (NZSSD) held its 39th annual scientific meeting in Wellington on 5-8 May, 2015.  There was unprecedented interest in this meeting, with a record number of abstracts being submitted from researchers and practitioners on the topic of diabetes.

Dr Jeremy Krebs is the current president of the NZSSD and a member of the Edgar Diabetes and Obesity Research Centre (EDOR). He says there was an exciting line-up of topics being covered by both international and national speakers at this meeting, ranging from in-patient care and self management programmes through updates in retinopathy, peripheral arterial disease and foot care, to more basic science aspects of lipids and public health issues of food taxes.
