Research
I am excited to hold a Research Fellowship in research impact for the Divisional Office in the Division of Health Sciences, and within the Department of General Practice and Rural Health. My position here is a new one and I will be supporting researchers in the Division as well as producing case study examples to show the research impact that has occurred across the Division. My clinical background is in physiotherapy and I have a master's degree in Health Leadership.
Research impact is a ‘hot topic’ in academia, with funding bodies and organisations both nationally and internationally focusing on how to convey the impact of research. In the 2015 National Statement of Science Investment research impact is defined as ‘the ways in which scientific research benefits individuals, whanau, communities, organisations, New Zealand and the world’. Research impact measures exceed traditional measures of publication and citation, and, in the health setting, may include advancing knowledge, capacity building, policy, health, economic, cultural, environmental and social impacts.
